Just a few months after Sieben Energy Associates received its first award from the Smart Energy Analytics Campaign, the firm has been recognized with another: the "Monitoring Based Commissioning Service Provider" award for 2018. Sieben Energy Associates will formally accept the award during a session at the Building Commissioning Association's annual conference on October 16, 2018.On September 21, Sieben Energy Associates learned that it would be given the monitoring-based commissioning (MBCx) service provider award at the upcoming BCxA Conference in Nashville. This prestigious national award recognizes the portfolio of projects that Sieben Energy Associates has completed using its MBCx platform, the impressive energy savings generated as a result, and the firm's ongoing support of the U.S. Department of Energy's Smart Energy Analytics Campaign.
Sieben Energy Associates thanks its MBCx clients, as well as the local electric utility ComEd, and Nexant, the manager of ComEd's MBCx program, for their enthusiastic adoption of MBCx. Syed Suhail, Director of Monitoring-Based Commissioning, performed much of the work to develop the firm's data analytics platform and deploy it to serve the firm's clients. Jerry Burin, Vice President, is representing Sieben Energy Associates at the BCxA Conference and will accept the award on the firm's behalf. Everybody at Sieben Energy Associates takes pride in helping the firm's clients reduce their energy use and cost through cutting-edge, award-winning service. The technology itself is outstanding, but it is the firm's dedicated engineers and consultants who provide the knowledge and expertise necessary to turn that technology into tangible results.
At the same BCxA Conference, ComEd and Nexant will participate in a related panel discussion: "Using Analytics for Successful MBCx." They will speak about the challenges, successes, and lessons learned to date through ComEd's MBCx program. Due to the program's success, ComEd is considering ongoing engagement with customers beyond the required duration of MBCx projects to ensure the persistence of savings from the implemented energy conservation measures.
The existing building industry is increasingly viewing data analytics as a primary driver of energy efficiency. Acronyms such as MBCx, EMIS (energy management information systems), and FDD (fault detection and diagnosis systems) should become more and more familiar with each passing year to building owners, managers, and engineers. Smart energy analytics is one prerequisite for a smart building.
Sieben Energy Associates is proud to participate in the Smart Energy Analytics Campaign. The MBCx service provider award validates Sieben Energy Associates' leadership in MBCx, particularly for large commercial buildings. The Smart Energy Analytics Campaign is led by the U.S. Department of Energy's Better Buildings with support from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and other partners.
